Halloween is great fun – even more so when it’s a group endeavor. Here are some possibilities for group costumes.

One easy group costume idea is the secret service. Select one person to be the president or some other VIP, and then dress the rest in matching suits and shades. Follow the VIP everywhere. When nature calls, have one or two act as an advance team, then everyone guards the doors until the VIP is ready.

Families can have a lot of fun with matching bunny costumes. Or, dress as a favorite television sitcom family. Anything goes, from the Simpsons to All in the Family to the Brady Bunch. Dressing as cast members of favorite movie series always works. Try Harry Potter costumes, for example.

If it is a group of four people, it could be fun to go as “The Fruit of the Loom Guys”: One person dresses as a bunch of purple grapes, one as a bunch of green grapes, one as an apple and one as a leaf. Or, go as a fruit salad and add a banana, a pineapple or some other fruit.

Another clever group idea is to go as dinner: Each person can pick a different course of a formal meal or go as a fast food dinner: hamburger, fries and a soft drink.

With the popularity of Rock Band and similar video games, it could be fun to dress up as an existing or a generic rock band. Just be sure everyone dresses in the same style: 50s, 80s, punk, doo-wop or country.

One popular idea that always works is a briefcase drill team. Have everyone dress in matching suits and carry a briefcase and a cell phone. March in formation and work out a quick routine. It’s always a hit.
